Virtual Global Team Research Problems &

Virtual Global Team Research Problems

  • Virtual teams working in various geographic locations require members to learn and adapt to working with others from different cultures.

  • Time Zone differences may impede change as work teams need to sync with one another or achieve collective understanding, i.e. shared temporal cognition (STC)

  • Research suggests that STC occurs at different points in a team’s project lifecycle due to temporal conflict (TC), e.g. disputes about time.

Virtual Global Team Issue:

Access to Opportunities

  • The issue with exposing opportunities relates to diversity groups having limited access to opportunities due to existing member preference.

  • Existing virtual team members may prefer working with others whom they perceive are within their own group over others believed to be in different groups.
