Overarching Problems Existing With Team Diversity in Virtual Global Teams

An examination of team diversity issues surrounding virtual and global teams relating to misunderstandings or miscommunication that may arise due to generational or cultural differences.

 

A lack of awareness regarding diversity issues existing on global teams may lead to lower contributions in group collaboration in virtual work scenarios. Additionally, this may lead to conflict resulting from shifts in responsibilities, imbalanced workload, or confusion of instructions and responsibilities.

 

There may be a lack of openness or mindfulness of others from differing cultural backgrounds. The absence of team diversity awareness may create divisions among team members which can have a negative impact on team dynamics, communication and trust within the team.
